Melissa sang her first solo at her home church, Aberdeen Baptist Church, at the age of seven and has been singing ever since. Her performance background includes musical theatre as well as singing backup for various artists in a country music show. Her main focus is now ministering through gospel music with her family.
Rachel has been singing on stage since she was nine. She grew up watching the Crossmen Quartet at Aberdeen Baptist Church and old Gaither Homecoming videos at home and with her grandmother and fell in love with gospel music. She is a 22 year old senior in college pursuing a degree in social work and recently married to Brady Hinton. She plans to sing for the Lord as long as He allows.
Eli began singing at a very young age as well. He is a field commander in the Butler County High School Marching Band and he is the "comedian" of the family group. He loves singing with his family and making and writing his own music in his free time.
The Johnsons is made up of Kirk Johnson, Melissa Johnson, Rachel Johnson Hinton and Eli Johnson. Kirk and Melissa have been married for 24 years. The family has been singing as a southern gospel group since 2011 and their first album was released in early 2012. In 2015, The Johnsons released their second album, Overdue, which included originals from Kirk, Melissa and Rachel. The family has been continuing to write and sing for the Lord.
Kirk began in a gospel group in 1989 called "Young Harmony Sound" while still in high school, and has played keyboard in many successful bands for the last 25 years. He began playing piano at the age of nine and still plays often with various country music house bands. He often accompanies the rest of the family on piano while on stage .
